木材で建てられた家
昔はだいたいどこの家も、木材で建てられていました。現在でも、一軒家の場合には木造モルタルが一般的でしょうが、都市部では鉄筋コンクリートのマンション住まいが多くなっていますね。
マンションは密閉性が高いために、冬でも温かいことで評判は良いです。
しかし、密閉性が高過ぎることで結露などの問題も表面化しています。
木材は一般的に温かいと言われていますが、実際、木材で建てられた家は、あまり温かいということで評判にはなりませんよね。
どうしてなのでしょう。
日本には、梅雨という時期がありますし、夏も湿度が高くて暑いですよね。
ですから、家の造り方が古来より夏向きに工夫されているのです。
たとえば、大きな窓やガラス戸などを四方の壁に設けることによって風通しを良くし、蒸し暑さを解消しています。
ですが、戸や窓の周囲には隙間ができやすいため、冬になりますとその隙間から冷たい空気が入って来るわけです。
せっかく温めた空気と冷たい空気が入れ替わりやすいわけですね。
そのため、寝る前にストーブを切ってしまうと、それまで温まっていた室内もすぐに温度が下がってしまい、朝の起床時には大変、寒い思いをすることになるのです。
このような理由から木造住宅は寒いと言われるようになりました。
しかし、壁、床、天井、屋根裏などに断熱材を隙間なく挿入して、戸や窓には気密性の高いサッシ戸を入れることで、ずいぶんと改善されます。
また、コンクリートの保温性に近づくために、木造の家も近年とても進化しています。
近い将来、コンクリートに劣らない木造の家が登場すると思います。
